garden party: paper, petit fours & presentation

June 23, 2011 •

Can this table top get any more perfect?!? Shades of gold, turquoise, orange and pink in layered patterns and a mixture of textures. Each plate is topped with complimentary colored menus, the sweet touch of a sugar stick and the scent of a rose – sure to stimulate all the senses. I will take note of this napkin trick too, a perfect prop for presenting the menu. No table can be complete without just the right treats, mini short cakes and sauced sorbet. Every guest will be happy they accepted the invitation.

Recipe: Campari-citrus sorbet, by This is Glamorous

grapefruit, makes 1.5 quarts

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 cups grapefruit juice
  • 1/2 cup campari

Directions: Mix the water and sugar together in a small pan over a low heat, bringing to boil until the sugar dissolves. Allow the simple syrup to boil for exactly 4 minutes (this will give the sorbet the best consistency). Remove from heat and cool (makes a little over 1 cup).

Combine the citrus juice and Campari and add 1 cup of the cooled syrup. Adjust to taste — want to add a tablespoon or two extra syrup if you prefer it less tart. Remember, the mixture will taste slightly sweeter in liquid form than it does when frozen.

Freeze in an ice cream machine according to manufacturer’s directions {if you do not have an ice cream machine, they also make perfect popsicles}. After churning, allow sorbet to set in the freezer at least two hours.

the butterfly effect: inspiration

May 17, 2011 •

I was a very busy lady last week getting ready for a butterfly themed first birthday soiree! Creating paper goods, centerpieces and decor oh my! The party was Saturday and we couldn’t have been happier with how it all turned out!  In fun anticipation of sharing the photos from the photographer & event…here is the inspiration board that I created for my clients prior to the party. Spring into the fun…

twist & sprout

March 16, 2011 •

Organically crisp and fresh are the combination of white, lemon and lime. Take white from drab to fab with a patterned wrapping paper table runner. So simple yet so effective, use the scraps left over to cover favor boxes or to make belly band napkin rings. Serve up the fruits of your labor with lemon-filled centerpieces, shamrock pepper snacks, cucumber crudité and concoctions and bountiful branches of goodie bags. Add sprigs to your swizzle straws and the fresh scent of lilies to your stairwell. Pick a green dress that will flatter all your friends and let the guys go green in their accessories. A springy invitation will set just the right tone and this fling will be sure to seed success.

big kiss bernadette

March 1, 2011 •

How I have not seen this before now I don’t know but I am soo happy that 100 Layer Cake posted it!  A hand lettered invitation to an FNO party from last year done by Bernadette Pascua. One of the hardest parts of designing in retail is the combining of brands and their identities, this invite left identity to the wind and made the invitation simple, but whimsical and fabulously enticing…who wouldn’t want to attend the event?!? I adore!

great expectations

September 15, 2010 •

When so much work is put into the clothes and lines for fashion week, I am glad to see the preview invitations do not fall short of great expectations! The below designs use texture with feathers, and fabric to transform the ordinary to extraordinary. And who wouldn’t love a gift that keeps on giving, this pad and pencil set is super chic and useful… I totally want one!
